Arthur Lok Jack Global School of Business Students Trailblaze with Agentic AI Business Simulation

The students at the Arthur Lok Jack Global School of Business took part in a multi-stage, AI-supported business simulation designed to strengthen applied decision-making over a 4-week period. The research-based simulation promotes collaboration, and reflective learning within the Operations Management programme. With Agentic AI simulation: actors inside the simulation can think, choose actions, and change their behaviour as situations evolve simulating real-life challenges and problem solving. This design is best to promote standards and adaptability for learning and development. While programmed simulation is best used to promote standards, i.e.: everything happens according to fixed scripts and stored data, so outcomes only change if the rules are rewritten. A distinction which must be stated given the rise of A.I. terminology today.

The simulation, titled Captains of Industries, places students in the role of senior company executives, requiring them to respond to evolving business scenarios that mirror real-world operational challenges. Participants make decisions, justify their actions in structured written responses, and assess the decisions of their teammates as the simulation progresses through successive stages.

Each student is guided through their experience via an online dashboard that tracks progress, stages completed, and generative AI feedback received. Note that the AI provides feedback based on trained management guidelines developed by the simulation innovator, Dr. Kevin Fleary. At every stage, students are presented with scenario-based challenges involving operational constraints, trade-offs, and competitive considerations, requiring analytical reasoning rather than rote application of theory in a same day assessment.

A key feature of the simulation is its emphasis on peer evaluation. Team members review and either approve or reject their colleagues’ decisions, with these evaluations contributing to a metric that measures how well a student’s judgments align with team performance trends. This approach integrates individual accountability with group dynamics, reinforcing collaborative decision-making to influence behavioural changes in management. Final scores incorporate individual performance metrics and company averages, providing both students and faculty with a detailed breakdown of results at the end of the simulation.

The platform also offers faculty members administrative oversight tools, including cohort-level analytics, growth tracking, and exportable grade reports. Simulation data can be archived and reused to support internal quality reviews, assurance-of-learning processes, and accreditation documentation.

The initiative is led by Dr. Kevin Fleary, faculty member at the Arthur Lok Jack Global School of Business. Dr. Fleary holds an undergraduate degree in Management Information Systems from the University of London, MBA from The University of the West Indies, and Ph.D. Management Science and Engineering from the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology. In a world filled with uncertainty, the Captains of Industries simulation reflects the school’s continued focus on technology-enabled learning for experiential assessment with adjustable game play complexity. The three levels of complexity are design to support students (secondary and tertiary) and corporate society training and development of complex, data-informed managerial decision-making.

Dr. Fleary is seen here, far right, at the Arthur Lok Jack Global School of Business with Caribbean Accessible Insights Student Club, a club he founded to promote the use of AI and R&D, it promotes informative and fun storytelling. #CaribbeanAccessibleInsights content can be found on social media platforms
