Lok Jack GSB provides internships for all Bachelor Students

UWI Arthur Lok Jack Global School of Business has partnered with organisations to provide
internships to all students of the Bachelor of International and Sustainable Business programme.
More than forty students have been given the opportunity to gain work experience and
implement their knowledge in the organisations to which they have been assigned.

We know that many graduates of Bachelor programmes have the challenge of not having work
experience on their resumes. This puts them at a disadvantage, as organisations prefer to hire persons
that have had some level of professional experience. The Lok Jack GSB Bachelor of International and
Sustainable Business has addressed this issue by providing all of our undergraduate students with
internships at firms across various industries and sectors.”, said Dr. Ron Sookram, Academic
Director, UWI Arthur Lok Jack Global School of Business.

The firms that have partnered with UWI Lok Jack GSB and provided internship opportunities
for these students include Associated Brands Industries Limited, Coconut Growers Association,
Ministry of Energy, Guardian Holdings Limited, The Maritime Financial Group,
PLIPDECO, RAMPS Logistics, IAL Engineering Services, iGOVtt, Office of the Prime Minister –
Tobago Affairs. These organisations will be provide a safe, structured environment with a workplace mentor for each student. The students will be able to build relationships within the industry they wish to
build a career, and the students learn valuable soft skills for communication, professional
networking and workplace etiquette.

At Lok Jack GSB we are working towards building our Bachelor students into confident leaders, and giving them a head start in their careers by making them attractive to employers upon graduation.”, Dr. Miguel Dindial, Programme Lead, Bachelor of International and Sustainable Business.
