About the IR Seminar…and Why Now?
The industrial relations (IR) landscape in Trinidad and Tobago is at a pivotal crossroads—shaped by shifting economic pressures, evolving workforce expectations, and the urgent need for sustainable, collaborative approaches to workplace governance. The IR Seminar, themed “Beyond Bargaining: Building Sustainable Workplaces in T&T,” brings together key voices at a critical juncture for the nation’s labour and economic landscape. As businesses, unions, and policymakers face rising demands for transparency, equity, and adaptability, this seminar provides a timely platform to address these challenges head-on. It fosters open dialogue, shared learning, and progressive thinking—tools essential for driving industrial peace, economic resilience, and inclusive growth in our nation’s workplaces.
Organisations and institutions must navigate evolving market dynamics, technological disruption, and shifting workforce expectations. The aim is to foster meaningful dialogue, share practical strategies, and champion forward-thinking approaches to industrial relations. With a focus on collaboration and shared responsibility, our objectives include strengthening employer-union relations, promoting inclusive workforce policies, and supporting sustainable economic growth through modern IR practices.
Our goal is to inspire a balanced, collaborative, and forward-thinking IR ecosystem that reflects the realities of today’s workforce and tomorrow’s aspirations.
This critical event will bring together a cadre of esteemed thought leaders to engage in rich dialogue and chart a progressive course for industrial relations in the region. The events of the day will include a number of speaker addresses, a provocative panel discussion and will culminate with a working session.
