Dr. Dianne Thurab-Nkhosi – EdD, University of Sheffield, UK
Dr Dianne Thurab-Nkhosi is the Senior Programme Officer and Head of the Quality Assurance Unit (QAU) at the St Augustine Campus of the University of the West Indies. Her responsibilities include leading the implementation of the UWI quality policy on the campus, and furthering implementation of the policies of the Board for Undergraduate Studies, The University of the West Indies.
Prior to joining the QAU, Dr Thurab-Nkhosi was Faculty Development Specialist in the Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) at the St Augustine Campus. At CETL she was involved in strategic planning for the CETL, teaching, research and course reviews. Dr Thurab-Nkhosi has been involved in online and blended learning for almost two decades. She was a Curriculum Development Specialist at the University of the West Indies, Open Campus. She drafted the 2012 Policy for Blended Learning on the St Augustine Campus and led the blended learning activities of the campus resulting in a 34% increase in the number of blended courses between 2012 and 2016.
Her primary areas of research have been quality in online and blended learning and curriculum reform. Her research spans the topics of policy and implementation of online and blended learning, quality assurance in open and distance learning, student satisfaction in online learning, preparation of staff for online and blended learning, teaching in the online environment and curriculum reform for continuous quality improvement. She has written several book chapters and articles in referred and non-referred journals.
She is a member of several professional organisations and serves as Chair of the Curriculum and Pedagogical Reform and Access (CPR&A) Strategic Sub-Committee of The UWI St Augustine’s Strategic Plan Implementation Committee.
