Employment law, also known as Labour Law, is the body of law which governs the employment relationship. Guyanese labour laws, the national Constitution and international labour conventions of the ILO (ratified as treaty and international law) provide the legal basis, foundation, and framework for the conduct of labour relations by the Government, its agencies and labour market institutions such as trade unions, employers, and their organisations.
This introductory course is intended to help participants gain a historical, theoretical, and practical working knowledge of the Guyanese legal system pertaining to employment law and labour relations
